KWGIS HOSTS CODE OF CONDUCT BUREAU ON ENLIGHTENMENT OF STAFF
The Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS) has recently played host to the State Director of the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB), Dr. (Mrs) Yusuf Sherifat and her team for a visit aimed at enlightening the KWGIS staff on the activities of the CCB and the new assets and liabilities declaration form.
The Executive Chairman of KWGIS, ESV. Abdulkareem Sulyman, warmly welcomed the CCB team, expressing appreciation for the enlightenment campaign. He noted that the visit was timely, as it would help to educate KWGIS staff on the importance of declaring their assets and liabilities.
ESV. Sulyman assured the CCB team that KWGIS would cooperate fully with the Federal Government and the CCB, as they always do as patriotic Nigerians. He promised that the Agency would ensure that the CCB’s message reaches every staff member, emphasizing the importance of transparency and accountability in public service.
Earlier, the State Director of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Dr. (Mrs.) Yusuf Sherifat, highlighted the importance of public officers declaring their assets and liabilities, as mandated by the Nigerian Constitution.
She explained some of the activities that public officers are not expected to participate in, including conflicts of interest, receiving salaries from multiple sources, and maintaining foreign accounts, among others.
Dr. Sherifat also warned public officers against under-declaration, over-declaration, and anticipatory declaration of assets, explaining that these practices are contrary to the code of conduct for public officers. She urged public officers to declare their properties accurately and truthfully.
In her address, Assistant Chief Superintendent of the Bureau, Mrs. Tinuoye Oluwaseun enumerated some of the peculiarities in the new assets and liabilities declaration form, including the fact that it is now a self-service form that can be downloaded from the CCB website which is www.ccb.gov.ng
In his remarks, Deputy Superintendent of the Bureau, Mr. Abdulganiyu Ibrahim, pleaded with KWGIS management to ensure the enlightenment reaches all staff for easier form-filling when due.
In his vote of thanks, the Administration Secretary, KWGIS, Mr. Maiyaki Babadzuko Madu, appreciated the CCB team for their visit and prayed for God’s guidance and protection.
