KWGIS BOSS WELCOMES SURVEYORS TO STATE, HAILS GOVERNOR’S TRANSFORMATION INITIATIVES

The Executive Chairman of Kwara State Geographic Information Service (KWGIS), ESV Sulyman Babatunde Abdulkareem, has welcomed the National Executives of the Association of Private Practicing Surveyors of Nigeria (APPSN) to the State. The APPSN delegation, led by its National Chairman, Surv. Dabiri Thomas, paid a courtesy visit to the KWGIS boss today, 28th August, 2025, in Ilorin.

During the meeting, ESV Abdulkareem expressed gratitude to the association for the honour of their visit, stating that KWGIS is ready to support APPSN in any capacity. He highlighted the transformations brought about by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s administration through the GIS Automation System, a project that has seen significant investment in the Surveyor General’s office.

The APPSN National Chairman commended the Governor for his outstanding work in various sectors of the State and praised ESV. Abdulkareem for his efforts in driving the KWGIS agenda. Surv. Thomas emphasized the need for unity among surveyors and other professionals, stating that they should work together for the betterment of their states.

The Acting Surveyor General, Surv. Haruna Abdullahi, provided an update on the GIS Automation project, revealing that the State government has spent significantly on the project, with core stations installed to cover a wide area. He appreciated the State government’s investment in the Surveyor General’s office.

The Chairman of the Kwara State Chapter of APPSN, Surv. Funsho Salau Ayodeji, noted that the survey profession has been blessed with a great leader in ESV Abdulkareem, who has helped resolve issues in the profession and expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support, stating that APPSN is ready to work with KWGIS and the State government.

The visit concluded with a vote of thanks from the Head of Department of Boundary and Mapping, KWGIS, Surveyor Owolabi Sunday, who appreciated the APPSN executives for their visit and wished them a successful stay in the State.
